Selecting Your Transcription Languages
ParrotKey supports 110+ languages for voice transcription. Choose your primary language and add additional languages during setup, each assigned to a number key for quick switching.
Choose your dictation languages
During onboarding, ParrotKey asks you to select the languages you want to use for voice transcription. ParrotKey supports over 110 languages, so whether you dictate in English, Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic, or any other supported language, your speech will be accurately transcribed.
You can select a primary language and add additional languages as needed. Your primary language is the one you will use most often for dictation. Additional languages give you the flexibility to switch between languages on the fly while recording.
Language slots and number key assignments
ParrotKey assigns your selected languages to the number keys on your keyboard, giving you up to 10 language slots:
- Key 1 β your primary language
- Key 2 β your second language
- Key 3 β your third language
- And so on, up to Key 0 (your 10th language slot)
While recording, you can quickly switch to a different language by pressing the corresponding number key on the Pill window. This lets you move between languages mid-dictation without stopping and restarting.
How to select languages during onboarding
- Your system language is auto-detected. ParrotKey reads your operating system language setting and pre-selects it as your primary language.
- Use the search bar to find additional languages. Type the name of a language to filter the list and quickly locate it.
- Click on a language to add it. Each language you select is added to your active language list and assigned to the next available number key slot.
- You can add up to 10 languages. Select as many as you need for your workflow, up to the maximum of 10 language slots.
- Click "Continue" to proceed. Once you are satisfied with your language selection, move on to the next step in the onboarding process.
Manage your languages later
You are not locked into your onboarding choices. After setup, you can manage your languages at any time from the Languages page in the main dashboard. From there, you can add or remove languages and reorder them using drag-and-drop.
The order of your languages on the Languages page determines their hotkey assignment. Dragging a language to a new position changes which number key activates it. For example, moving French from position 3 to position 1 makes it your primary language, accessible via key 1.
